Alright, I told you that there were some happy times coming up and this is definitely one of them.
This was a two day assignment that I picked up one day at a time. I would have rather known that I’d be there for the second day. Mostly because the kids kept asking if I would be.
I think the best way to describe this class is that I could have put a baby monitor in the room and wandered around the halls and they still would have behaved and done their work. Not that I would actually even seriously consider doing that[1].
I got into the room and they took a few seconds to see that they had a sub, then they started doing their morning work. That was the theme throughout the day, they did what they were supposed to do.
The only problem came in the first day. Most of the class was supposed to be pulled out for some kind of gifted program thing and the teacher was late for whatever reason. The kids I had still did their work, but they were constantly checking to see what time it was and looking at the door as if they had the power to make her magically appear to take them away.
If I could have a class like this every day I’d be a very happy sub. I also wouldn’t have anything to write about because I think reading about how a class behaved the entire time over and over would be rather boring.

- much less do it, no class behaves that well [↩]
